Members with medical and/or pharmacy benefits administered by Optima Health will be covered for the 2010-2011 influenza season.  According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the 2010-2011 flu vaccine will protect against three different flu viruses: H3N2 virus, influenza B virus, and the H1N1 virus.

Optima Health members may visit the following locations to receive a flu shot*...

Your doctor:

  • Check with your physician to see if he or she offers the flu vaccine.
  • A physician office Copayment may apply.

Your local pharmacy:

  • Members will pay a $0.00 Copayment when receiving a flu vaccine from a participating pharmacy -- download a list of participating pharmacies with the flu vaccine.
  • We recommend that you call the pharmacy in advance to check the availability of the flu vaccine.
  • Please note that Walgreens is not a participating flu vaccine provider with Optima Health for the 2010-2011 flu season.  If you choose to receive the flu vaccine from a Walgreens pharmacy you can file for reimbursement from the Plan, however you may be responsible for payment of all or some of the charges.  Your ability to obtain prescriptions at a Walgreens pharmacy will not be affected.

If you need additional assistance finding a location to receive the flu vaccine, contact Optima Health Member Services at the number on your member ID card.
